Antique English Solid / Sterling Silver Collapsible Cup in Case

About the Item

A truly fine example by a top silversmith, this silver pocket or campaign cup is in superb condition without any damage and fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1911 together with the makers mark for the renowned silversmith, Mappin & Webb. The cup comes with it's original case lined in a deep purple velvet, gold printed "Mappin & Webb, Manufacturing Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, Oxford St. London W". The case is also lucky enough to remain in superb condition. The silver cup weighs 46 Grams / 1.48 Troy Ounces and measures 1 5/8" in diameter x 2" and the case measures 2 1/4" in diameter x 1 3/8". An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian English sterling silver wine goblet; an addition to our antique wine and drinks related silverware collection This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver wine goblet has a circular bell shaped form onto a knopped stem and circular spreading foot. The body of this antique silver goblet is embellished with impressive embossed and chased scrolling leaf decoration accented with bead motifs, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates plain lobed arch designs, composing five vacant cartouches. The upper rim of the drinking vessel is encircled with an applied moulded border. The circular knop to the plain stem is encompassed with applied bead decoration. The swept foot is embellished with further embossed and chased decoration reflecting that of the body and is encircled with an applied band of bead decoration to the rim.
