Antique & Impressive, Beautifully Hand Carved Alabaster Set of Ornamental Vases
Located in Lisse, NL
Early 1900s pair of alabaster vases with an alabaster 'fountain' with birds in the middle.
Have you ever tried to hand carve a figure out of a piece of natural mineral stone? Only than you can really come close to having an idea of how remarkable this set of vases is. To be able to hand carve these floral motifs out of solid alabaster (and all the way through) with a chisel and some other hand tools, must have taken ages and a whole lot of skill and experience. Imagine making one mistake. . .that would be a bad day at the office for sure. Fortunately this most skillful of carvers kept his focus and produced these very decorative and highly stylish set. One has already been enjoyed well over a century and that can certainly be enjoyed for many more years and by generations to come. The creamy white color, the perfectly carved branch, floral and grape patterns in the pair of vases, they all ad up to the grandeur of this marvelous pair. The fountain centerpiece of this set with the three bathing and drinking birds too comes with neatly carved grape bunches, but have you also noticed the entwined dolphin sculptures in the base? By the way, in images 15 and 16 you can see the backside of the two vases. These works of art truly are a joy to own and look at and you could not wish for more decorative antiques on your sidetable of mantel.
This antique set of three is great value for money. Also, because perfect packing (in a custom made box) and also worldwide shipping from our store to your door in just 4 to 6 workdays are included in our fair price.
Maximum height x width x depth of the vases: 20.5 x 6.9 x 6.9 inches.
Maximum height x diameter of the circular fountain...

Antique & Rare Pair of Hand Carved Italian Alabaster Tazza Table Display Pieces
Located in Lisse, NL
All handcrafted out of alabaster these stylish & decorative tazzas make great centrepieces.
This rare pair of 19th century tazzas comes with overhanging wine branches all around the circular tops. Finding this pair of Renaissance Revival tazzas more than made our day, because they will look great as dinner table centrepieces. Many centuries ago tazzas were initially used as drinking vessels only, but later in time they were used for other purposes as well. This pair obviously is perfect for putting grapes on when entertaining guests with food and wine, but they also make great fruit bowls presented with a wide variety of colors. Have you also noticed the striking, entwined dolphins twirling down to the stem? They make this pair even more decorative and remarkable. As is almost always the case, these original and good condition tazzas have some losses (to the overhanging leafs only), but because of the richness of these decorations they are not very noticeable.
If you appreciate this antique pair of natural mineral stone Tazza...
