A large green and cream ceramic cabbageware or lettuceware serving bowl. This bowl is large and round and perfect for serving salads or dinner rolls. Glazed in a deep green color, it features raised veining in a creamy white. The edges are scalloped and have a slight texture to them. The outside of the bowl has a slight texture as well and resembles a lettuce leaf or cabbage leaf. The bottom is stamped in black with Maxcera, made in China. A vibrant 1950s Italian studio ceramic round catchall dish by renowned Florentine ceramicist Marcello Fantoni (1915–2011), created for Raymor, the premier American importer of mid-century European design led by Irving Richards. Featuring a straight-walled cylindrical rim with three integrated rest notches, the piece showcases Fantoni's mastery of raw, volcanic surface textures and warm, earth-toned glazes. The exterior and interior basin transition through banded gradient layers of mustard yellow, terracotta orange, ochre, and deep slate brown with a pitted, lava-like texture.
