About the Item

A Mexican mid-century modern Sterling silver pitcher by Tane Orfebres. The pitcher's body is hammered. The pitcher's weight is 1039 grams. (33.4046 Troy ounces). Tane Orfebres was founded in 1942 in Mexico City by Sergio and Natalia Leites, a couple of French citizens who fleed to Mexico during World War II. It was originally a tannery that produced leather products (hence the name). The contact with local artisans and silversmiths caused the change to jewelry design, silver objects and sculptures. In the 1970's, Tane began to work along important plastic artists like Leonora Carrington, Pedro Friedeberg, Matthias Goeritz and Gunther Gerzso. The quality of Tane's products has given the brand international recognition. Currently, Tane is in the process of breakthrough into new markets around the world.
