About the Item

An exceptional, fine and impressive, comprehensive antique George V English sterling silver twelve piece condiment / cruet set - boxed; an addition to our dining silverware collection This exceptional antique George V twelve piece boxed silver condiment set, in sterling standard, consists of four salts, four pepper pots and four mustard pots. The pieces of this fine comprehensive antique condiment set have an oval baluster shaped form. The surface of each piece is embellished with the contemporary engraved initial 'T'. The decoration to each body incorporates a cast and applied undulating gadroon-style border to the rim. These impressive mustard pots are fitted with cast silver opposing scrolling handles, each ornamented with a leaf decorated thumbpiece. The mustard pots retain the original hinged hallmarked plain domed covers, surmounted with cast silver scrolling thumbpieces to the posterior surfaces. The pepper pots are fitted with push fit covers with pierced 'pepper' holes, each surmounted with a cast and applied flame style finial. Each mustard pot and salt is fitted with the original removable blue glass liner. The set is presented with the plain mustard and salt spoons, each embellished with the aforementioned contemporary engraved initial to the terminal. This antique silver condiment set with spoons is fitted to the original hinged satin wood box with satin and velvet lined interior and secures with two push fit catches. Condition The pieces of this antique boxed silver condiment set are an exceptional gauge of silver, exceptional quality and are in exceptional condition. The original presentation box shows signs of wear to the interior, in keeping with age. Full hallmarks struck to the surface of each piece, in addition to part hallmarks to each cover are all very clear; the hallmarks are struck deeply due to the exceptional gauge of silver. Reflections in photographs may detract from the true representation of this comprehensive and large boxed silver condiment set.
