Color options for light sockets also include: blue, yellow, and multi-colored sockets. Martine Bedin was born in Bordeaux in 1957. In 1981 she was one of the founding members of the Memphis group, she works as an architect, industrial designer and professor. Her works are exhibited in many museums and private collections. Memphis is the great cultural phenomenon of the 80s that revolutionized creative and commercial logics in design. Born from the idea of Ettore Sottsass and a group of young designers and architects, in Milan, coupled in the years by famous designers from the international scene, Memphis turned upside down all of the existing parameters on living. Ettore Sottsass as the backbone of the group, design gained a new concept and expression through new shapes, materials and patterns, expanding the creative limits of the industry. Memphis became a symbol of New Design. Its influence is still clear in various sectors of production and beyond. The Hilbers Chandelier is named for Brian Hilbers, a true California free spirit and the designer of Andrea’s first surfboard. About Pisces Pisces is perhaps Andrea’s most personal collection to date. An avid surfer whose ideal morning involves riding the waves in Malibu, she channeled the ocean’s fluid rhythms, sunlit hues, and sculptural contours in designing each of the fixtures. But her inspiration dives even deeper and surfaces even more specifically. Alone on the sea with her board, Andrea observed the mesmerizing movement of glowing kelp blades through the deep blue water. She thought about how the presence of kelp is a sign of a healthy ocean. An idea began to take shape. Back in her studio in Los Angeles, she brought her vision to life, choosing smooth, floating brass and undulating aqua-colored fiberglass to echo the textures and colors she had admired, and she and her team carefully engineered the elements to flow seamlessly around each other, wave-like.
