Glass proportions and dimensions can be adjusted as well as the material and coating of the base. Please contact us. The expression of Posit stems from its assembly, which has been stripped down to the most rudimentary components. The glass top is glued to the glass frame and is meticulously slid on top of a perfectly fitted cedar base. The balanced geometry is graphically framed by the refraction of the glass and the impressions of wood shift under its reflections. Posit is an airy coffee table that conveys precision but at the same time a curious playfulness. SNICKERIET is a furniture studio with an explorative approach to traditional woodworking craft and philosophy. Projects are initiated as research into topics revolving technique, construction, decoration and material properties. The findings are released in the form of individual pieces of furniture. This finely crafted model totem pole is by Ditidaht/Nuu-chah-nulth master carver Raymond Williams, the father of the current generation of Williams carvers. It depicts an iteration of the Tlingit Chief Shakes pole of Wrangell, Alaska – a popular motif for the Williams family. The top figure is Raven’s Grandfather, who perched on the Box of Daylight. The middle figure is Raven, and below is frog. This model illustrates how Raven stole the sun, moon, and stars and released them into the world. This old model Salish pole dates to around 1900 and was sold out of the Hudson Bay Fur Trading Co. in Seattle, WA. The pole depicts an inverted killer whale, although the identities of the other figures are unclear. There is a formline human face in profile carved in relief and painted on the front of the base. A rather unusual feature of this pole is the inlaid glass beads in the eyes of the figures and blowhole of the whale.
