A beautiful set of five blue and white Delft vases, this faience collection was hand-painted in Holland, circa 1900. The three bulbous vases are lidded, each with a finial depicting a rampant lion with a ball in its forepaws. Beneath the lion is a mottled background (on the front side only), with a foliate and floral margent. Each vase has the same scene painted on the front of the main body: a couple walking through a field surrounded by flowers. The opposite side has a floral rinceaux above a foliate branch. Painted in a similar fashion, the two concave vases are without lids. The side opposite from the cartouche of the couple has floral margents. All five vases have canted corners on the base. The Parrot's Garden: Dutch Delft Polychrome Chinoiserie Plaque, Circa 1730–40 A rare and vibrant Dutch Delft polychrome wall plaque, dating to the early 18th century (circa 1730–40). The shaped plaque features a raised, molded border decorated with alternating painted panels of flowers and Chinese auspicious objects (such as scrolls and ribbons). The central scene is painted in a distinctive puce, yellow, and green palette, depicting a slightly off-center table holding a vase filled with flowers. Perched prominently on the floral branches is a large yellow parrot, surrounded by several flying insects. To the left, a small figure of a gardener stands with two watering pots at his feet, tending to the scene. The composition is surmounted by a molded blue shell finial pierced with a suspension hole, and the exterior rim is finished in blue. Measurements: Height: 8 7/8 inches (22.5 cm) Width: 9 3/4 inches (24.8 cm) Depth: 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) Condition: Good antique condition. No restoration is present. There is typical flaking (fritting) to the glaze on the rim, consistent with age and material. Provenance: B.F. Edwards Collection...
