Antique Large Cloisonné Enamel Wall Crucifix with Font
Antique Large Cloisonné Enamel Wall Crucifix with Font

Antique Large Cloisonné Enamel Wall Crucifix with Font

Located in London, GB

Antique large cloisonné enamel wall crucifix with font French, Late 19th Century Height 57cm, width 33cm, depth 7cm This superb decorative cross is designed to hang on a wall, enabled by the small clover-shaped gilt metal handle which surmounts the top. The cross is shaped as a traditional Christian budded crucifix, and features stunning cloisonné enamel decoration that is expertly contrasted by an ebonised wood backing. The cross is centred by a budded panel, that features four blooming flowers wrapped within their vines in a heart-esque pattern. These designs are bordered by a red and gilt geometric surround, which provides an interesting contrast to the more flowing linearity within. Similar flower-and-vine motifs, as well as similar geometric bordering, adorn the rest of the cross’s main body. The colour contrasts within the cloisonné enamel are particularly pleasing, with the pale-yellow ground making the bright hues of the foliate decoration stand out. At the bottom of the cross sits a font, or stoup, originally designed to hold holy water. The font is also decorated with cloisonné enamel, but employs a geometric layered design in differing shades. The reverse of the cross is stamped ‘1138’. Replete with refined decorative elements, this excellent piece of religious décor...

Pair of Cloisonné Enamel Decorated and Silver Gilt Eggs

Located in London, GB

Pair of cloisonné enamel decorated and silver gilt eggs Russian, 20th Century Height 7cm, diameter 5cm This duo of Russian antique eggs, artfully hand-fashioned from gilded silver and bedecked with painstakingly rendered cloisonné enamel, serve as proud emblems of the nation's rich lineage of gem-studded eggs. Crafted from sterling silver, as attested by the coveted '84' zolotnik stamp, each egg gleams with a seductive sheen, their interiors revealing the full splendour of gilded silver. The enamel floral arabesques, a hallmark of Russian craftsmanship, undulate elegantly across the egg's shell in an intricate ballet. These arabesques are arranged in a patterned circular band around the eggs, with larger circular, floral emblems taking centre stage in the body of the pieces. The bold blues of the enamel - in varying shades, from azure to navy - are offset by vibrant ruby red accents, making for an arresting visual contrast. Deeply rooted in a vibrant cultural tradition, these Russian eggs...

Part of a large haul of reclaimed industrial lights from a former steel works in the North East of England. These wonderful vitreous grey enamel angled factory lights are an early version circa 1920's with cast steel galleries. These parabolic lights were popular choice during the industrial age of Great Britain, a versatile light which would of originally been used in a whole host of sinarious including illuminating car production lines, lighting market stalls of Britain's historic city markets such as billingsgate and highlighting signage and wall displays inside out outside factory's. The existing finish has been sealed to emphasise the patina of the metal. Fully refurbished today they are equally as versatile either as a ceiling pendant or wall mounted light. Installed in a run these make a wonderful feature for bar and restaurant lighting...
