About the Item

This English 1930s mirror-framed dressing table mirror could also serve as a frame for a photograph. On the cresting are three acid-etched plumes, the device of the handsome young Edward, Prince of Wales, which became a popular decorative motif in the 1920s when he made a splash on the international social scene. The popularity of the motif continued through the 1930s, after he abdicated as King Edward VIII, to become the Duke of Windsor and marry the glamorous American divorcee Wallis Warfield Simpson. The wood backing and collapsible strut is black-painted wood.
