Blades and monoliths of pure abstraction are embedded onto the monumental legs of a 19th century Italian table, overflowing with decorations. Or a dense inlay of oriental scenes. The journey is in time, in style, but also in space. It crosses East and West. And the journey, that draws on different cultures, leads to hybrid furnishings, with an aesthetic somewhere between a master of minimalism like Carl Andre and the most refined wood essences of high antiques. The chairs of an oriental living room, for example, made in Hong Kong at the beginning of the twentieth century, have a decorative light-heartedness that knows how to dialogue with steel.
