About the Item

Dining chair or side chair hand carved solid cherrywood with maple inlays circa 1780, Austria. The Josephinische Stil was a popular style in Austria in the 18th century. This style marked the end of Habsburgerbarock and corresponded to the start from Classiscism and matches Louis Seize in France. While the backrest from the beautifully side chair shows circles like maple wood inlays, the fluted conically shaped feet feature a graceful appearance. Through the shellac polished surface ( the refinish was made few years ago ) the surface features a stunning warmth and depth and could so perfectly blends old and new. The chair is stable and sturdy. The seat upholstery shows striped textil fabric in good condition. Viennese furnitures made at the end of the 18th century era, named Josephinisch, are mostly characterized through solid wood and playful inlays. Very beautiful and appears being light - weight through its fluted legs. The overall condition of the chair is good with minor signs of age and use. It could perfect work with Rustic interior as well as Contemporary or Modern environment. approx. measures: Width: 45 cm Depth: 50 cm Height: 90 cm Seat height: 48 cm.
