An antique Javanese teak wood daybed from the 19th century, with rattan seat, storage and hand carved scrolling motifs. Handcrafted on the island of Java during the 19th century, this teak (a very sturdy wood) daybed charmed us right away with its rustic character and great presence. We found it in Java on an excursion during the early 1980s. The bed features a hand-carved headboard with scrolling cloud motifs, flanked with straight supports topped with pyramidal finials.
