Pair of ‘Butterfly’ Sofas by Mantellassi 1926, Newly Reupholstered in Turquoise Velvet
A striking and substantial pair of ‘Butterfly’ sofas by the esteemed Italian design house Mantellassi 1926. These luxurious, sculptural pieces exemplify the brand’s signature blend of classical influence and theatrical modernity.
Each sofa features a dramatically curved backrest with deep button tufting and bold scrolled ends, raised on silvered-metal swept feet. The carved wooden frames are silver-leafed in the Art Nouveau taste, adding a glamorous, reflective edge. Recently reupholstered in a vibrant turquoise velour fabric, the sofas have been refreshed to a superb presentation standard, enhancing their already commanding presence.
Generously scaled and exceptionally comfortable, these pieces would suit a grand interior—whether in a reception room, drawing room, bedroom suite or statement bathroom. Their rare presence as a matching pair further elevates their appeal.
Condition:
Very good overall. Minor marks to the silver-leaf finish from reupholstery, easily rectified if required. Frames are structurally sound and the upholstery is recent and immaculate.
