It is a premise and a challenge when designing. Nature constantly provides us with shapes and colors capable of awakening us to its application in objects and products every day. It was referring to the way bees build their hives and the strength that this same structure has that the idea of a sofa started to be designed inside my head and then finally, materialized. The Hive sofa is a complex piece of Hive modern furniture with many elements that have to fit perfectly with each other. Many hours are spent with every segment of this sofa, from the structure, to foam buds, the upholstery and the wood scales. The first research step that was done was to evaluate the largest number of sofa designs on the market and do something completely different. Next, we created a well-defined concept of construction and usage. We wanted something beautiful and impactful on the back (unusual in the market) and that was inspired by nature (the research was on the beehives). One of the curiosities is the fact that the seat allows different depths just by changing your position. Shorter people can choose to sit on one point of the hive sofa, while taller people can choose another. the cutout in the seat, allows the legs to be more supported at the front or back depending on the comfort that the user wants to give them. Our values lie in the respect, protection and sense of continuity towards our natural resources, our roots must be preserved, maintained and cared so they can keep inspiring us as well as our future generations. We are committed to be a sustainable brand, we feel obligated to respect the purity of the materials we use in our pieces giving them the importance they deserve and making products that can be cared through generations with maintenance and repair. Portugal has centuries of history in woodworking, we draw honoring that tradition and combining it with state-of-the-art technologies, always trying to produce furniture with a high-level practical value and connecting our ancestry’s generations with the ones to come. Every masterpiece we make represents a tribute to the materials we use. This vow of respect represents the value of our collection and makes it possible for us to ensure the quality of our pieces, giving us the confidence to mark them as “Made in Portugal” with the distinctiveness it deserves.
