About the Item

Jacques Charpentier France (1918-1986) Issu d’une famille parisienne, Jacques Charpentier suit l’enseignement de l’Ecole Boulle dont il sort major en 1945. Le jeune décorateur, ami de Réné Prou ouvre un atelier dans le XVIIe arrondissement et se spécialise dans la fabrication d’objets de décoration, puis se lance dans le dessin de canapés en acier inoxydable au début des années 60 en déménageant au 41, rue Lappe et au 9, passage Thiéré dans le XIe arrondissement. L'entreprise compte à la fin des années 70 près de 60 employés. Il collabore avec la maison Jansen sur de nombreux projets de décoration et offre ses conseils en agencement intérieur avec sa chaîne de distribution Flat International qui propose également les modèles de Philippe Jean et Pierre Folie. Les canapés « Apollo » et « Chandigarh » seront les plus commercialisés avec la chauffeuse « inox », les lampes « Kalder», « Astrolabe » ainsi que le système « Modulaire ». A la mort du décorateur, ses deux fils reprennent la gestion de l’entreprise.
