The Kyoto Stool is a signature made-to-order piece by Alexander and Jones, handcrafted in our Cotswolds studio, UK, from solid oak in the Shou Sugi Ban edition. This ancient Japanese wood charring technique enhances the durability of the oak while raising the grain to create a rich, deeply textured surface, carefully sealed to preserve both its visual depth and longevity. The stool features arched panel sides with sculpted scalloped base cutouts, giving the piece a considered architectural form that works equally well as a dining seat, dressing table stool, desk seat, or bathroom accent piece. Individually crafted, hand-finished, and rigorously quality-checked before leaving our Cotswolds studio. Alexander and Jones works with interior designers, private clients, and procurement teams globally. Trade enquiries and multi-piece commissions are welcomed.
