About the Item

This walnut carved and turned footstool was made circa 1875 in the Aesthetic Movement style. Most likely made in America the stool is of a chunky robust proportion with large turned legs and deeply incised lines that have been gilded giving the piece a sense of lightness about the turnings. Being slightly higher then a footstool it may have been intended as a dressing table stool and is solid and very sturdy. It has been french polished and waxed with new upholstery and is ready to use.
