English Labeled Late 19th c. Metamorphic Mahogany Foot Stool

About the Item

This piece, a labeled example of fine British furniture made circa 1880, is crafted from mahogany and cane. Designed to change its profile from a low gout stool with a foot rest to a larger ottoman for full reclining in a chair. The piece is strong and stable and works well with easy and comfort. The style is simple with a classical regency profile. A very nice detail is that the piece has an enameled makers label (see photo 9) which reads J. Sinclair, 52 Church St. , Liverpool. This maker was well known for the making of perambulators or carriages but also made furniture and metamorphic pieces and had a long-established career at the same location for many years with advertisement's listed in many Liverpool papers over many decades. Condition Disclosure: While we do our best to carefully inspect and give a full report on the condition of any item we sell, pointing out any repairs or alterations that may have been done to the best of our knowledge, as is the case with any antique and vintage item, there is a possibility that at some point in the life of the piece that there may have been damaged which has been professionally repaired and as such a repair undetectable, it is therefore impossible for us to disclose... we recommend that you also read and agree to the 1st dibs user agreement, particularly sections 9,13,15,18,19 and 27
