Bridges Small Blue by Muller Van Severen for BD Barcelona, 2024
By Muller Van Severen

Bridges Small by Muller Van Severen for BD Barcelona, 2024
Bridges is a collection of cabinets designed by Muller Van Severen. MVS developed the cabinets from their series of ‘Wave’ vases. The vase silhouettes were brought into handmade cabinets with unique cutout bases that transcend function. Their refined colours and glossy finishes emphasise structure, standing out with a sculptural beauty. Alone or as a whole, the Bridges cabinets create a colourful architecture that is vibrant and spacious and, of course, full of personality.

About the designer:
Muller Van Severen was founded in 2011 by Belgian artist duo Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen. They are both artists, and their work showcases their appreciation of the natural beauty of materials and how materials can speak for themselves. Working between design and art, the couple has always been on an inspired quest for sculpturally interesting design objects and furniture. Their creations are globally identified in both private homes and public spaces. All of Muller Van Severens own production pieces are handmade by small-scale fabricators and skilled artisans, with an honesty to the rawness and irregularity of the chosen material.
Their work is characterized by careful research into their shared passion for art, architecture and materials, yet their designs appear to be created almost intuitively and with total effortlessness.
About the manufacturer:
BD has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like Ettore Sottsass, Rennie Mackintosh and Álvaro Siza, BD provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today.
They are an international design company run by a collective ownership —Apartamento Magazine...

Unique Emiel Veranneman, 1996
By Emiel Veranneman
Located in Meulebeke, BE
Sideboard designed by the Belgian designer Emiel Veranneman produced by Decoene.
Made of lacquered wood in gray-blue color with a yellow accent in the door. One-of-a-kind furniture made for the previous owner.
"From 1960 Emiel Veranneman began to concentrate his efforts exclusively on furniture creations and interior decorations for clients, an evolution due to a profound dissatisfaction with the prevailing rules of the furniture industry.
The result was an impressive series of unique creations with the most important characteristics: harmony, monumental, tension, power and intellectual outflow.
One could call Emiel Veranneman's art furniture more radical and stubborn. an art form that is not impressed by the rules of the economy, nor by the fashionable desires of the public, least of all by the promptings of its clients or by artistic trends. All this makes it possible to really call Emiel Veranneman a monument in furniture art. His art stands alone among his contemporaries."
(Veranneman, Visie & Passie, p.162-163)
Please note that the piece is in good vintage condition with some minor user damage.
Comes with the original design drawing...
