Cabinet 19th Century, Napoleon III Period, Style Boulle
Located in Warsaw, PL
This wooden cabinet is designed in the Boulle style. This style was very popular around the time of Napoleon III. The characteristic of this style is the use of small pieces of wood in furniture, inlaid designs with many different materials: precious wood, precious stones, enamel, ivory, seashells, metal, marble etc. In addition, to express the royal style, the "Boulle" style also uses a large amount of gilded copper on the furniture, such as tiger claw decoration, mirror border decoration, leaf decoration, etc. The main elementsof this cabinet is ebony and turtle shell, with decorative details and gilded legs. This is a pretty prominent highlight in the overall black and gold color scheme. Moreover, the head of a woman is in the middle of the cabinet with waves in her hair and grape vines could be representing the Greek goddes of spring Spring. Surrounding the head are beautiful acanthus motifs incorporated in every layer and surface of the cabinet. Symmetricallly on the left and right side of the head are two identical faces, with one being the lock of the cabinet where key goes. The four corners of the cabinet have blooming carnations to create a feeling of spring coming. The details are collaged, decorated with golden bronze leaves in a classic French style. On the edges of the cabinet are sculptures of two women wrapped around with cloth and leaves. Through it, the author highlights the beauty of the woman's status in the past. On the side panels of the cabinet is placed a gilded face of a man with wings...

Beautiful lacquered burgundy with gold leaf details, the interior is fitted with glassware shelves and a single pull out shelf. Working key is present. This circa 1930s restored storage cabinet in manner of Emile Jacques Ruhlmann would work great in an Art Deco, Hollywood Regency, Post-Modern or Mid-Century Modern home or penthouse apartment but could also look fantastic in a Contemporary, Space Age Mod, Scandanavian Modern, Danish Modern or Zen / Minimalist room. Also consider mixing it up in a Traditional, Transitional, or Classical room with a splash of juxtaposition. Would also be an apt choice in a commercial project such as a hotel lobby lounge or members club, creative design studio or high-rise executive office. Consider using as a dry bar, curio cabinet, towel and linen highboy, sideboard or cupboard for your kitchen or dining room, vitrine or entryway closet...

Stunning Walnut Carlo Bugatti Torchere Inlaid with Pewter, Brass and Ivory
Located in Shrewsbury, GB
Carol Bugatti Torchere inlaid with pewter, applied hand beaten copper and delicate hand illuminated decoration to calf vellum. Bugatti, Editions de Regard, Paris 1981 Pg 90 Son of Giovanni Luigi Bugatti, a specialist in interior decoration, Carlo Bugatti was born 2 February 1856[1] in Milan, in what was until 1859 the kingdom of Lombardy. Bugatti studied firstly at the Brera Academy in Milan, and subsequently, from 1875, at the Académie des Beaux Arts in Paris. In 1880 he started to manufacture furniture in Milan, later transferring to France. From 1888 he began to be successful beyond Italy. Nevertheless, until 1904 he maintained a Milan workshop in the city's Via Castelfiardo 6.[2] Bugatti triumphed at the exhibition of decorative art in Turin in 1902 and returned to Paris in 1904. He was also, like his father, trained as an architect, but there is no evidence that any of his architectural designs were ever executed.[3] Father of sculptor Rembrandt Bugatti and automobile manufacturer Ettore Bugatti, he moved in 1910 to Pierrefonds where he established an atelier. From 1914 to 1918 he was nominated mayor of the village, and the outspoken anti-German industrialist Adolphe Clément-Bayard, who lived at the Domaine du Bois d'Aucourt, entrusted its upkeep to him. From then on, he devoted himself entirely to painting. After the suicide of his son Rembrandt in 1916, Bugatti, then 60, produced less, but he remained influential. In 1935, at the age of 79, he retired near his son Ettore's family in Alsace. He settled in a flat north of Château Saint-Jean, Dorlisheim, with his wife Teresa (who died shortly afterwards), at the domain of promotion of Bugatti property of his son Ettore. Carlo Bugatti spent his last months at his apartment at the Bugatti factory in Molsheim, where he frequented the workmen and the house of 'the Hardtmühle', living with Ettore and his family. In April 1940,[4] he died at the hospital in Molsheim. He is buried in the Bugatti family cemetery at Dorlisheim. The Bugatti section of Molsheim's municipal Musée de la Chartreuse displays...

Paul Evans Patchwork Copper Cabinet with Slate Top for Directional, c. 1967
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Stunning copper clad cabinet by Paul Evans for Directional, produced in circa 1967. This incredible piece of design history is fabricated from patinated pieces of copper, brass, and pewter which have been welded and nailed in a patchwork style pattern resting on top of a patinated metal base. The 2 oversized round front door pulls are what sets this design apart from the rest - giving personality and character to this piece, almost to the point of personifying the cabinet. The top has been fitted with an inset slate stone and the two-door front opens to reveal a black lacquered interior which is divided into two, one side open storage space and the other with a single shelf. The cabinet sits atop casters for easy relocating. The back is fully finished so feel free to float this in the middle of the room - there is no need to have to place it against a wall. The fusion of these exterior materials formulates an exemplary piece which would be a welcome addition to any design lovers collection. We have the matching sideboard, double wide credenza, coffee table, cafe / game table, flip-top bar cabinet, and floating wall console with mirror...

Paul Evans Patchwork Copper Flip-Top Dry Bar Cabinet for Directional, circa 1967
Located in Los Angeles, CA
This rare patchwork copper flip topdry bar by Paul Evans was crafted in the mid-1960s by Directional. A collectors item and piece of design history, this stunning liquor cabinet was handcrafted with patinated pieces of copper, brass, and pewter which have been artistically welded and nailed in a patchwork style resting on a matching plinth base atop casters, allowing the cabinet to be easily moved around and floated throughout the room wherever your party takes you. What separates this one apart from other examples are the finishing touches. This example has a top that is finished in the same copper clad as the front, the back is finished and so are the sides, and the interior side of the two doors are finished as well. So you can float this in the middle of the room and even when you open the doors to your magnificent collection of liquor and glassware or other possessions, your cocktail cabinet still maintains that 'finished' look. Under the flip topis a black laminate bar-top and interior also finished in black. Inside the double sided copper clad cabinet doors are a left and right interior storage space divided by a black wooden divider. Within both sides are adjustable wooden shelves all finished in black to match the rest of the interior. This genius design by Paul Evans took into account how subtle details can make an atmosphere so much better for entertaining and the complete blackout of the interior spaces make this really pop under entertainment night lighting. This is the rare cousin to the sought-after patchwork cabinet, in similar form with slate top and oversized round door pulls, which we also have in our current collection, see our other listings or contact us for more details on our Paul Evans Patchwork collection. We also carry other Paul Evans designs, including Cityscape, Deep-Relief, and the Sculpted Metal Collections and more. This eye-catching Brutalist patchwork drybar cabinet...
