A period Louis Philippe (1830-1848) country French farmhouse walnut enfilade with double drawers over double doors. Circa 1830
Born in Provincial Southern France during the Bourbon Restoration of the first half of the 19th Century.
The most beautifully grained walnut was selected when creating this distinctive piece, massive in scale, of excellent quality hand-crafted craftsmanship, full of charming antique character, including pegged solid wood construction, hand cut dovetail joinery, and hand carved, hewn, and chamfered detailing.
Featuring a rectangular shaped framed plank boarded top with molded edge and canted "cut-off" corners that correspond to those found below on both the case and base. The worn smooth wood top with rich, warm patina sits above two locking dovetailed frieze drawers, each with simple string banding, wooden keyhole escutcheon, and iron key.
Large lockable paneled cupboard doors open to reveal a huge, spacious interior fitted with a single fixed slab shelf, offering very generous amounts of convenient storage. Retaining the original four keys, each different and individually matched to one primitive forged iron lock...
