Yes, that's correct, this is a desk that closely resemble a spinet piano, however this was always a desk. The burl walnut wood just could not be any more rich and beautiful. The finish to the wood is like glass. The condition is that good. As you stroke the desk with an open palm you feel like you are rubbing warm glass. Hard to find a finish on a desk of this age to be so preserved. This desk has never been refinished. The desk starts to open like a piano, and then you can pull out the writing surface. Besides the desk there are cubby holes above the writing area for storage. There is more storage below where the two doors are located. Wherever you look you see this rich burled walnut in every area except the back. It's so very impressive in person. It is on rollers, and so it can be moved without too much trouble. I have only owned one other spinet desk...
