The desk features elegant floral marquetry using walnut, maple, and other light hardwoods, with a finely proportioned Mazarin structure: multiple drawers on both sides, a central drawer above a door compartment, and cabriole legs connected by a decorative stretcher. The ormolu (gilt bronze) mounts are finely cast and richly detailed.

The central drawer under the cover has a secret opening underneath, that can be opened by pressing a button. The top of the desk is bordered with an openwork frame. The sculpted, gilt bronze ornamentation features a bas-relief frieze of cupids playing and an allegory of Sculpture. The desk is set on four tapered legs.
