About the Item

Anna Shesterikova's painting "Light Is Shining And Darkness Did Not Win" is an expressive abstract statement imbued with a philosophical idea. The composition is built on a tense dialogue between light and darkness. The upper part of the canvas reveals radiant layers of light and warm hues—golden, ochre, almost solar splashes—breaking through the dense material of the paint. These fields of light are not static: they are fluid, their boundaries blurred. The foreground is immersed in deep, opaque blue and black masses. Here, the form thickens, the brushstrokes become heavier, the texture thick and rough. However, this darkness does not appear final: it seems to struggle with the light, but is unable to suppress it. The texture created with the textured paste plays a special role. It gives the surface a textured appearance, enhancing the effect of rough materiality, contrasting with the smooth and glossy areas of "highly spiritual" life, adding an inner dynamism and drama to the work. In this work, Shesterikova continues the tradition of abstract expressionism. However, her painting goes beyond purely formal exploration: she addresses metaphysical content, the theme of the indestructibility of light as a spiritual principle. This painting is a meditative space in which the viewer witnesses the dramatic yet undeniable victory of the light of the spirit over the darkness of chaos. The painting is ready to hang on the wall. Its wide sides make it suitable for hanging without a frame. It is suitable for a contemporary interior as a focal point.
