The most celebrated golfers of the 20th century are captured together in this magnificent one-of-a-kind golf collectible. Presented are the authentic signatures of Bobby Jones, Walter Hagen, Ben Hogan, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Sam Sneed, and Gene Littler. Between the ten of them, these golf legends won 96 Major Championships to include 21 Green Jackets. Collectively, during their 20th century reign, they captured a total of 516 U.S. and PGA titles. This collage includes an inscribed and signed Bobby Jones photo, a signed Walter Hagen card, and two signed first day Bobby Jones commemorative postal covers. The first cover features a Ben Hogan signature and the other cover features the autographs of Gene Sarazen, Byron Nelson, Sam Snead, Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player and Gene Littler. Robert (Bobby) Jones - Even today, Bobby Jones is considered the greatest amateur golfer in history, but many consider him to be the greatest golfer - period. He is the only golfer to win the U.S. and British Opens and Amateurs in the same calendar year – 1930. This amazing feat became known as “The Grand Slam.” Despite his immense talent, Jones never became a professional golfer and earned his living as a lawyer in Atlanta, but will always be remembered as the founder of Augusta National Golf Club and the annual Masters Tournament. Walter Hagen - One of golf’s most celebrated figures, Walter Hagen’s talent was surpassed only by his personality. He is credited for elevating the social standing of professional golfers at a time when they were seen as less gentlemanly than amateur golfers. Throughout his career, Hagen won 11 Major Championships, won 34 PGA Tournaments, and was the first full-time tournament professional. Ben Hogan - With a relentless dedication to the game, Ben Hogan overcame permanent leg injuries to become one of the game’s greatest. A quiet personality, Hogan is considered the game’s best ball striker, winning 9 Majors and 69 professional titles. Arnold Palmer - One of the most recognizable names in golf, Arnold Palmer left both a professional and social impression on the sport. Palmer won 62 PGA Tours, to include 4 Masters titles. His charismatic personality captivated the era’s rapidly growing television audience, helping to launch game’s popularity to unprecedented levels. Jack Nicklaus – Highly respected for his calculating mind and collected demeanor in the face of frustration, and gracious demeanor in victory, “The Golden Bear” is beloved throughout golf. His talent was apparent from an early age and by the end of his career, he had won 6 Green Jackets and a total of 20 major championships, to include 2 U.S. Amateurs titles. Gary Player - Gary Player was the third golfer in history to win the career Grand Slam. Born in South Africa, and typically dressed in black, Player won 116 International events, including 9 major championships. Player was an inspiration for many and is considered one of the greatest international players of all time. Gene Sarazen – Sarazen became a professional golfer at only 19 and won his second Masters with a final round double eagle on the 15th to become the first person to ever win the career professional Grand Slam. Credited with inventing the sand wedge, he won 7 Majors and 31 PGA Tour events in his career. Byron Nelson – In 1945, Nelson won 11 straight golf tournaments, a record that still stands today. He retired from professional golf at 34, settling down to a quiet Texas life. In his career, Nelson won 5 Majors and 47 PGA Tours. Sam Snead – Snead spent 50 years as an active competitor, and was nicknamed “The Slammer” for his powerful and athletic shot-making. Despite humble beginnings, Snead was one of golf’s biggest stars, winning 13 Majors, and 82 PGA Tournaments. Gene Littler - Littler’s golf swing was one of the finest in golf history, generating years of awe for its fluidity. Over the course of his career, he won 29 PGA events, to include the 1961 U.S. Open Championship. Condition: Overall condition is exceptional. The various signatures are written in different bold inks. The signature on the photo of Jones is slightly faded, but still very legible. The card signed by Hagen is age appropriately toned, but has no tears or structural damage. Both signed covers are clean and bright. Overall, all elements are in very good condition with no tears or damage. Presented together custom built frame, using the finest archival materials and practices.
