The coin is framed in 18k yellow gold and platinum and suspended from a substantial yellow gold curb-link necklace. Pavé-set diamond terminals accented with cabochon rubies flank the coin, adding just enough color and brilliance to the strong classical design. Caracalla was one of Rome’s most recognizable emperors and is closely associated with the monumental Baths of Caracalla, among the largest and most elaborate public bath complexes ever constructed in ancient Rome. The reverse of the coin depicts water vessels, a particularly fitting reference to the great Roman baths associated with his reign. The necklace is set with 37 diamonds totaling approximately 1.20 carats. The coin mount is engraved “CARACALLA 198–211 A.D.” and the piece is signed Bvlgari.
