This 1.23-carat kite-cut salt-and-pepper diamond has an icy, wintry quality to it. Light gray with a soft scatter of inclusions throughout, the stone feels like looking through frosted glass. The kite shape elongates along the finger, its four points giving the diamond an almost compass-like geometry.
The band has its own character. Rather than a traditional round profile, the 18k white gold is faceted with clean, angular edges that echo the shape of the stone above it. It's a subtle detail, but one that ties the whole design together.
At Ursula Rickmers Jewelry, we paired the cool tones of this salt-and-pepper diamond with white gold deliberately. There's a cohesion to it, the metal and stone working in the same temperature range rather than creating contrast. Four prongs secure the kite at each point without interrupting its lines.
The ring is handcrafted in our Istanbul atelier, steps from the Grand Bazaar, where jewelers have been refining their craft for centuries.
