Antique Amuletic Dozen RockCrystals CagedRing Medieval Style Gilt Bronze Pendant
Located in Chicago, IL
This antique amuletic bronze framed pendant cages a dozen 7mm-diameter single-cut rock crystals that each feature a table-cut decagon crown, deep pavilion, 21 facets and uncut girdle, while the culets range from off-center to blunted. They are tightly set within four linked rings to overlap at the same angle in a sparkling single row. Seeming to retain a little of its original yellow-gold gilding on just the interior, the frame that surrounds each of the four sections of three crystals enables them to reflect pale-yellow-and-lime light when the pendant is viewed from certain angles. Each crystal can be manually rotated. Suggesting French heritage, the Medieval Frankish culture in northern France made jewelry in similar segmented or openwork shapes of wheels or whorls, which were worn as gem-decorated disk-shaped brooches or gold-caged rock...

Antique Carved Coral Sciacca, Gold, and Diamond Cherub Brooch
Located in Chesterland, OH
We present a true work of art to your attention - a rare and unique brooch carved from a single Italian Mediterranean coral Sciacca. This antique brooch, made in the form of a putto - a little boy angel with a diamond necklace, is imbued with the spirit of the times and the sophistication of the Renaissance when images of cherubs in the form of winged babies were especially popular. Exquisite hand carving amazes with its high detail and craftsmanship. Every element—from the soft features of the angel's face to the finest lines of the wings—conveys the magnificence of the master's work. The brooch is fixed on 14K gold, which gives it strength despite a crack in the wing and small damage in the area of the necklace, which is quite acceptable for such a venerable age and does not spoil this work of art in any way. This angel once soared in the heavens, but time has left its mark on his delicate wing. Perhaps this crack is a silent witness to the trials he has endured, making him not just a piece of jewelry, but a symbol of resilience and timeless beauty. There is a unique charm in this imperfection—a story that transforms him into something greater than just an adornment. The history of this jewelry is shrouded in mystery. Perhaps this cherub was created in the 18th century, or its history goes even further into the depths of the centuries. The 14K gold clasp was probably added in the 20th century, giving the brooch extra security and preserving it for future generations. This is not just a piece of jewelry; it is a unique artifact with a soul that takes you back to the past, preserving a piece of history and craftsmanship from long-gone eras. Description: Carved coral cherub...

Renaissance Cameo Pendant
Located in New Orleans, LA
The cameo at the center of this exceptional pendant is a stunning example of the art of gem engraving during the Renaissance. It likely dates to the early 17th century and features a sacrificial scene inspired by the Greco-Roman era. The central flaming altar is flanked by two figures preparing to sacrifice a ram, while a figure in a lion skin blowing horns stands in the left corner. The carver brilliantly uses the natural layers of the stone to achieve the illusion of shadow and musculature on the figures. A second, smaller cameo is set at the top of the pendant, while a myriad of multi-colored gems, pearls and enamel adorns the 18K gold setting. A large Baroque pearl suspended from an enamel dragon finishes the design, which embodies the opulence and theatricality of jewels from the Renaissance age. Cameos and intaglios were highly popular amongst wealthy connoisseurs in Renaissance Italy, and owning the finest pieces was the privilege of princes. Although they were often elaborately mounted for display alone, cameos were also frequently worn as pendants, surrounded by enameled and stone-set gold frames. Such pieces were particularly prized by the Medici and Lorraine families, many of which can now be seen at the National Archeological Museum in Florence. Very few Renaissance cameos...
