By Anil Kumar Yadav

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Anil Kumar Yadav - Aradhana-78 Acrylic on Canvas 36 x 48 inches, 2024 ( Rolled & Delivered ) STYLE : Anil Kumar Yadav is an Artist from Kolkata who was born in 1984 a village in Uttar Pradesh. He grew up among villagers with modest lives and the village culture. The Rangolis at the village festival and the local potters’ fine works of art inspired him greatly towards art as a hobby and potential career from early childhood. His father was then posted to Kolkata so their family relocated to the city. Once the capital of India, with its rich cultural heritage and character immediately caught my attention. He started painting for the first time in the city. Since the central theme to his paintings is related to present day society, his works appear photographic or naturalistic. The religious ghats of Varanasi, Haridwar and other antique places attracted him for their cultural heritage characterised by the holy saints, antique architectures, old idol sculptures and mysticism, spirituality. So he portrayed the simplicity of the architectural doors, temples, sculptures and the beautiful narrow streets and ‘galis’ which holds beauty that can not be described in words. He always prefers a highly realistic approach in his paintings for whatever he sees in his surroundings. He started to represent paintings in a form whose expression manifests a step ahead of photography. He has always tried to reach to a horizon where photography cannot reach and make a statement what is called hyperrealism. Saikat Patra - Untitled - 15 x 11 inches (unframed size) Watercolour on paper Style : Saikat Patra highly talented water colorist from Bengal. In this series of 10 water colour, Saikat traces few game changing moments in India. From invasion / war to coronation, from spirituality to education Saikat beautifully traces few important moments from Historical India. In order of the series of the events : a) Buddha with Angulimalla : ( 600 – 400 BC ) When Buddha's teaching resonated with the people and the ruthless serial killer redeemed and converted himself to follow the principle of Buddhism. b) Ashoka surveying the Sarnath Pillar : (400 – 200 BC) The Mauryan empire reached the peak of its extent under the rule of Ashoka(reign : 273-232 BCE).Here King Ashoka is scene looking at the Lion Capital of Ashoka, a sculpture of four Asiatic Lions; a graphic representation of which was adopted as the official Emblem of India in 1950. c) Questions of Milinda : (200 – 100 BC) Depicts the Questions of Milinda, a Buddhist text which record a dialogue Buddhist Sage Nagasena and the Indo - Greek King Menander who is set to have converted after meeting Sage Nagasina. d) The Kushan Kings encouraged all religions : One of the most interesting aspects of the Kushan empire is its spirit religious toleration. A broad pantheon of dieties on Kushan coins indicates that the empire was characterized by tremendous religious toleration. We find on Kushan coins, Greek Gods such as Helios and Salene, Iranian gods such as Nana, Mithra , Mao and Athsho, Hindu gods such as Shiva and Kartikeya, the Zoroastrian deity Ahura Mazda and the Buddha. The drawings shown above are also powerful evidence of the syncretic nature of many of the deities which were worshipped from different traditions. e) Gupta Empire : India’s Golden Age Kalidasa : ( 5th century AD ) Poet and playwright Vatsyayana : ( 3rd - 6th century AD) Author of the Kama Sutra Aryabhata : ( 5th century AD ) Mathematician, astronomer The peace and prosperity created under the leadership of the Guptas enabled the pursuit of scientific and artistic endeavours. This period was marked by extensive inventions and discoveries in science & technology, engineering, art, literature, mathematics, astronomy, religion, and philosophy that crystallized the elements of what is known as the Golden Age of India. f) Shiva as a dancing Nataraja, Badami : ( 600 – 750 AD ) The period of Badami Chalukyas the first cave portrays the Tandava-dancing Shiva...

Golden Flute, Acrylic Oil , Charcoal on Canvas by Master Indian Artist “In Stock"

By Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya

Located in Kolkata, West Bengal

Shuvaprasanna Bhattacharya - Golden Flute - 25 x 25 inches (unframed size) Acrylic & Charcoal on Canvas Should you wish to receive it framed and ready to hang it would measure approximately 31 x 31 inches and cost 500 usd to ship . One of the most popular series of the Master Artist, The Golden Flute is the artists more romantic rendition of Art. The iconic figures of Krishna, Radha, and Ganesha that found lyrical expression in the Icons series are modern representations and sophisticated idealizations of the same images in the popular media. Krishna is a cosmic musician, and the tune he creates by playing his transcendental flute is embodied with cosmic energy. When Krishna is depicted as being between the age of 5 and 8, it is always with his flute. Therefore, during this period, he is aptly called Murlidhara (murali means “flute,” and dhara means “hold”), signifying the one who holds the flute. He is never without it, whether he is with his mother, on the grazing grounds with his herd of cows, among his cowherd companions or roaming around on the Jamuna banks. Gopis lose their selves in this tune. For them, music becomes the voice of love, which is too passionate and secretive. Style : The city of Kolkata has always figured prominently in his work. His themes come from his personal interactions with its urban milieu - its sickness and sordidness, its violence and vulnerability and all that compounds its existential agony. Shuvaprasanna has depicted varying moods of the city and its people, its places, and all its facets that make the city distinctive. He doesn't merely portray reality as 'matter of fact' and his presentation of reality often has dream-like elements in it. In terms of technique, Shuvaprasanna boasts a precise, finely executed style that yields an unmistakable visual intensity. He works comfortably in an assortment of media, including oil on canvas, charcoal, and mixed media. About the Artist and his work : Born : In Calcutta, 1947. Education : Graduated from Indian College of Art (R.B. University, Calcutta) in 1969. Exhibitions : Shuvaprasanna has had several gallery and museum exhibitions, including at the Tao Art Gallery and at the Chawla Art Gallery, Square One Mall. Several works by the artist have been sold at auction, including 'ABODE' sold at Waddington's 'Fine Prints & Photography Auction...

Tree of Life - Embroidered Tapestry Wall Hanging

Tree of Life One ancient mythical symbol appears across various cultures as the esoteric Tree of Life. The Tree represents life's abundance and immortality. The cosmic mountain is often depicted as the highest point on earth where heaven and earth meet, where Gods dwell; the Tree stands atop it. Specific trees are held sacred and worshipped as the Tree of Life by the different cultures, and it does not bode well to cut the Peepal in India, Bodhi (Peepal) in Buddhist countries, Cyprus in Iran etc. About: "Art is just perception. The first glance is an emotion, your emotion. The title of the canvas is read after that."- Shabbir Merchant...
