Georgian 18 Karat Gold, Enamel and Seed Pearl Mourning Ring
Located in Brisbane City, QLD
An 18kt yellow gold, black enamel, and seed pearl mourning ring dating to 1817. The piece centres on a piece of likely Essex crystal which sits atop of the letters 'WF' cut from gold. Surrounding this crystal is halo of seed pearls set in a bed of black and white enamel. The beauty of this piece is that the ring is entirely as it was manufactured 200 years ago, with the shank unaltered, evidenced by the uninterrupted patterns on the piece. An absolutely stunning piece of Georgian era jewellery...

Franco Bucci Coffee Service ACR Arte Ceramica Romana, 1973
By Franco Bucci
Located in Melbourne, AU
Franco Bucci coffee service for six with coffee pot, cups, saucers, sugar and creamer. We love this service for its bold, elegant, robust Italian design, typical of the 1970s. Curvacious, chunky, innovative, attractive, lovely to use and to hold - it's got it all. Bucci designed ceramics for high quality manufacture. During the 1970s, he produced this 'budget' household crockery service for mass production which proved very popular. This set can be viewed in the Bucci archive, listed as item 805. Timber Mazer Bench by Tom Fereday
By Tom Fereday
Located in Geneve, CH
Timber Mazer Bench by Tom Fereday Dimensions: W 190 x D 45 x H 50 cm Materials: Solid Oak & Walnut. MAZER COLLECTION: Mazer represents a series of geometric sculptures, each a celebration of the fundamental beauty and natural variation of stone. Strict brutalist forms of the table and seating collection are juxtaposed by soft organic cutaways carving through the porous stone surfaces, revealing the natural beauty and character of travertine. Named after the medieval term ‘Mazer’ meaning bowl, the collection presents subtle organic forms proportioned for table and seating function designed for permanence. Porous formations of the stone’s structure act as an intentional disruption to the clean geometric forms of the series adding character and intrigue. The limited edition series was crafted from travertine and locally produced in Italy from a combination of machine and traditional hand made processes, each piece exhibiting its own unique characteristics and form with no one piece alike. Mazer is designed by Australian designer Tom Fereday exemplifying Fereday’s desire to honour materiality, combining form and function to produce enduring works. Tom Fereday develops products based on the principle of honest design, conveying a design process which celebrates the materials and manufacturing processes behind furniture and products, to design from the inside out. By using the materials and environment as a positive design constraint we guide intelligent and thoughtful design outcomes which connect with people through natural materials, tactile finishes and unique design. We strive to create enduring designs which are meaningful to people and their environment. Born in Australia, Tom Fereday grew up in England studying at the Wimbledon School of Art before moving to Sydney to complete an honours in Industrial Design at the University of Technology Sydney. Working across europe and Australia Tom Fereday went onto found his sole practice in 2012. French, Cigar Shaped Onyx Desk Seal with Diamond Collar & Morocco Leather Case
Located in Brisbane City, QLD
This exquisite desk object was crafted in France during the early 20th Century and would have been an impressive object to own. The desk seal is crafted from a cigar shaped piece of black onyx which features a diamond set collar to one end and a monogram intaglio 'seal' to the other, all circa 1915. The monogram is 'AMF' which has been beautifully engraved into the underside of the seal. The piece retains its original Morocco leather fitted box signed 'Appay', a French manufacturer, and embossed 'AMF' to the top of the lid. The firm Appay were retailing at 24 Rue De La Paix in Paris which is close-by the Place Vendome and also the Opera, however little information is known about the business. Chinese Art Deco, Soft Pastel Antique Carpet
Located in WYNNUM, QLD
Chinese Art Deco Chinese Art Deco circa 1930 Measures: 10 ft. 1 inch x 8 ft 1 inch Acquired from a Sydney estate This genre of hard-wearing carpets has gained significant designer and consumer interest over the past ten or more years. We acquired this piece in Sydney recently for its uncommon soft pastel colours and especially its fine artistry and hand etching of classic Chinese design elements. In our opinion as art dealers this fine piece strikes the right balance between space and graceful embroidery/patterns we seek in an ideal example . The understated mauve and pale green combine to create a soothing sense of calm acting as a base for the fine embroidery, which please examine. In truth the oft used title of this type of carpet is a misnomer – they are not, design wise, art deco. They only happened to be made in the 1920’s and mainly the 1930's - coincident to the Art Deco movement which stressed minimal and forceful angular images, like the architecture of the same name. True Art deco carpets are very rare and costly , and feature austere, minimalist designs . But the name has stuck, and at least is accurate as to the period . The Chinese look , a collaborative style, took off and was popular primarily in America and Europe during this period . Key designers such as Walter Nichols worked during the time with weavers and small manufacturers in China . In recent years this genre of carpet in good condition has been steadily appreciating , and is thus an actual investment ; good examples are increasingly difficult to find , and they do represent a period of specific artistry which has not been successfully duplicated . At 90`-100 years of age they are approaching the " antique" category . This piece was purchased from the owner of one of northern Sydney's 60-70 distinguished Art Deco homes where it looked beautiful, offset by an AD fireplace( angular, austere) surround in marble colours ( predominately pinks and greens ) which "mirrored " the carpet . Though it is a matter of personal taste, of course, the muted pastel colours in this piece are more elegant and dignified than many of the more bright -even garish - examples found in this genre , in our opinion, and much harder to find - one criterion for investment value . Also, such a carpet will work well in a wider variety of environments, stylistically, from an interior design perspective: whether living, dining, games room, library , large foyer or bedroom . In other words, one does not need a " Chinese" or Asian themed overall design for this piece to wonderfully complement the decor - in the way that a single Chinese wall scroll...
