Simó Busom, Catalan Mediterranean Landscape with River, Signed Mid-Century oil

Located in Sitges, Barcelona

This mid-century oil on canvas by Catalan painter Simó Busom i Grau presents a vibrant Mediterranean landscape with river and house, painted in an expressive postwar Spanish style associated with the Barcelona school. Artist: Simó Busom i Grau (Barcelona, 1927–2020) Title: Mediterranean Landscape with River and House Date: Mid-20th Century (circa 1950s–1960s) Medium: Oil on canvas Canvas size: 46 x 55 cm (18.1 x 21.6 in) Framed size: 59 x 68 cm (23.2 x 26.8 in) Signature: Signed lower right Condition: Good overall condition. Stable paint layer. Frame: Decorative frame included, ready to hang Location: Sitges, Spain Style: Spanish Postwar Landscape / Mediterranean Modern A refined example of postwar Catalan landscape painting, this original oil by Simó Busom i Grau captures the Mediterranean atmosphere through confident brushwork and luminous color transitions. The composition centers around a warm yellow house set against rolling terrain and flowing water. Gestural trees structure the foreground, creating depth and movement while framing the landscape. The artist’s handling of paint is energetic yet controlled, with visible impasto and layered color planes that enhance texture and spatial presence. The palette moves between cool river blues and sunlit earth tones, reflecting the light and tonal vibration characteristic of mid-20th century Spanish painting. The result is a work that balances decorative appeal with painterly authenticity. Compact in size yet visually dynamic, it functions beautifully in residential interiors or curated collections of European mid-century art. The painting is signed and offered with decorative frame, ready to hang. Simó Busom i Grau (Barcelona, 1927–2020) was a Catalan painter trained at the Acadèmia Baixas in Barcelona. He developed a career closely linked to the city’s artistic circuit, exhibiting regularly in Barcelona and Madrid and maintaining connections with the historic Sala Parés. His work focused primarily on Mediterranean and urban landscapes, characterized by expressive brushwork, structural clarity and a luminous color palette rooted in modern Catalan tradition. Charles Rennie Mackintosh 292 Hill House Chair by Cassina
Charles Rennie Mackintosh 292 Hill House Chair by Cassina

Charles Rennie Mackintosh 292 Hill House Chair by Cassina

By Cassina, Charles Rennie Mackintosh

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona

Chair designed by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in 1902. Relaunched in 1973. Manufactured by Cassina in Italy. This iconic chair reflects Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s style and his fearless approach to the most challenging manufacturing processes. Originally a furnishing accessory for one of Mackintosh’s major design projects, Hill House in Helensburgh, near Glasgow, Scotland, from which its name derives. The linear, geometric form is evocative of the minimal, abstract lines of Japanese graphics, which confer symbolic and figurative symbolic value to the piece’s striking visual impact. This piece is seen by many critics as not only a chair but also a veritable treatise on the way space can be articulated. The tall back is defined by a succession of vertical lines that are topped with a grid of verticals and horizontals. Thanks to the mastery of the furnitire makers of Meda, in the Brianza area north of Milan, Cassina has re-issued the Hill House chair...

Asian Inspired Sengu Dining Coffee Table by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina
Asian Inspired Sengu Dining Coffee Table by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina

Asian Inspired Sengu Dining Coffee Table by Patricia Urquiola for Cassina

By Cassina, Patricia Urquiola

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona

Sengu Coffee Table designed by Patricia Urquiola. Manufactured by Cassina (Italy). AN ASIAN INVITATION Asian-inspired, this design coffee table by Patricia Urquiola is a domestic architecture enhanced by the layering of different materials. The system of primary and secondary oval beams that supports the top of this table, ideal for a modern living room, draws upon the ritual reconstruction of Japanese shrines to define an elegant piece of furniture with Far-Eastern fascination. Supported by a solid wood base, the rectangular or round top is available in extra-clear glass, smoked glass or marble. BASE In solid wood: Canaletto walnut, natural oak or oak stained black. TOP Transparent extra-clear or smoked glass, or marble: white Carrara, Grigio Carnico, Verde Alpi, Rosso Levanto, Calacatta Gold, or Nero Marquina, with matt finish. Inspired by Asian influences ‒ a theme that often recurs in the Cassina collections ‒ and especially by the ritual reconstruction of Japanese shrines through the use of different materials, like the other pieces in the Sengu family, the Sengu Coffee Table, designed by Patricia Urquiola, is envisioned as an exquisitely layered and sophisticated home architecture. The base, crafted with a grid of primary and secondary oval solid wood beams, echoes the shapes found in the Sengu Sofa...

Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina

Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina

By Charlotte Perriand

Located in Barcelona, Barcelona

Charlotte Perriand Mexique Stool Outdoor For Cassina Cassina interprets the Mexique designer tables and stools by Charlotte Perriand in new versions, for outdoor living enjoyment at its best. With materials and finishes suited to outdoor use that maintain the same harmony and purity of line that distinguish the entire collection. Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - designed to make the best use of the space - is the unmistakable feature of the seat of the Mexique Outdoor design stool, as well; it can be paired with the high bar table from the same collection. STRUCTURE AND FOOTREST In stainless steel, matt black powder-coat finish SEAT In okoume plywood, matt lacquer finish. FEET In black plastic Charlotte Perriand began designing the “en forme libre” series of tables in 1938 and devised Mexique in 1952 for the students’ rooms in the Maison du Mexique at the Cité Universitaire Internationale in Paris. Re-edited by Cassina for the first time in 2014, it gave rise to a collection that includes several iterations, all while staying true to the original designs. Now, working closely with Pernette Perriand-Barsac, daughter and sole heir of Charlotte Perriand, Cassina introduces the Mexique tables and stools in new versions for en plein air enjoyment to the max. The iconic triangular shape with bevelled edges - originally designed to make the best use of the available space - remains the unmistakable trait in the Mexique Outdoor line, launched this year as a low table, dining table and high table with matching stool, available in two heights. New materials available in fresh, novel finishes and colours differentiate and emphasize the elegant design of this family. For all of the pieces in the series, Okoume wood, ideal for outdoor use, comes with matt lacquer finish in the following colours: marron glacé, China red, comfort, petroleum, light grey, sage green, a new shade of blue and Capri blue; the low tables also come with glossy glazed ceramic finish in the following shades: mossy green, basalt grey and light grey, while a natural teak seat is also available for the stools. Thanks to this vast and varied product range, it is possible to mix and match the various styles to create dynamic, free-form arrangements in absolute Charlotte Perriand spirit. As is true of all the works in the Cassina I Maestri Collection, each piece is authenticated by the Cassina logo, Charlotte Perriand’s signature and by a serial number that corresponds to the data on its ID card. Important information regarding images of products: Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals. The item that is selling is on the first image. Important information regarding color(s) of products: Actual colors may vary. This is due to the fact that every computer monitor, laptop, tablet and phone screen has a different capability to display colors and that everyone sees these colors differently. We try to edit our photos to show all of our products as life-like as possible, but please understand the actual color may vary slightly from your monitor About The Designer: Charlotte Perriand full membership of that avant-garde cultural movement which, from the first decades of the twentieth century, brought about a profound change in aesthetic values and gave birth to a truly modern sensitivity towards everyday life. In this context, her specific contribution focuses on interior composition, conceived as creating a new way of living, still today at the heart of contemporary lifestyle. In the sphere of twentieth century furnishing history, the advent of modernity made possible the entrepreneurial audacity of this true reformer of interior design. At the beginning of her professional career she was acclaimed by critics for her Bar under the roof, exhibited at the Salon d’Automne in 1927 and constructed entirely in nickel-plated copper and anodized aluminium. In the same year, when she was just twenty-four years old, she began a decade-long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, at the famous design studios at 35, rue de Sèvres in Paris. Her presence in the Le Corbusier studio is visible in all the furnishings designed with him and with Pierre Jeanneret: and so Charlotte Perriand becomes a cornerstone in the reformation project promoted by the architect, adding a distinct dimension of humaneness to the often cold rationalism of Le Corbusier. In her creations she manages to animate the fundamental substance of daily life with new aesthetic values: in particular her talent and intuition in the discovery and use of new materials manifest themselves to their full extent. The ten-year long collaboration with Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret, and her Japanese experience, represent periods of intense creative effervescence in the life of the artist. During her long stay in the Far East (‘40-‘46), she reveals her artistic talent to the full, through a reinterpretation of the reality of life to echo both tradition and modernity. By way of example, worthy of mention are the furnishings produced using traditional bamboo processing techniques, capable of enhancing the new forms already experimented using steel-tubing.After her work as a professional, she concentrates on a series of original and balanced productions, commissioned by top-level authorities and leading companies of the calibre of Air France, and by a number of foreign organizations, authenticating the fame she had by now gained on the international scene. The distinguishing factor of Charlotte Perriand’s personality is a sincere loyalty to the principles of humane and innovative rationalism, preserved intact in her projects, on which she worked with such passion, also in readiness for their revival in the “Cassina I Maestri” collection. Varius by Oscar Tusquets for BD Barcelona, 2022 The chair played yesterday and will play into tomorrow. Like a tuned Violin, Stradivarius. Its critical acclaim and commercial success kickstarted a new era of contemporary Spanish design. Loved for decades, the design is considered and remarkably adaptable. Stackable. Strong. Lasting. It stayed in tune. Based on the Stradivarius Violin but built to fit everywhere. This chair was brought back for its new finishes and styles. It is staying because it has a character of its own, now fit for every floor. The Varius plays again. Born in Barcelona in 1941, Oscar Tusquets graduated as an architect in 1965 from Barcelona’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura and was a member of Studi Per, together with Pep Bonet, Cristian Cirici, Lluís Clotet, and Mireia Riera. In 1972, they founded BD together, and Tusquets set about designing furniture and other objects, which would be recognised by the Spanish National Design Award. A number of his pieces appear in renowned museum collections, such as the MoMA in New York and the Centre George Pompidou in Paris. He has also been honoured with the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes (Gold Medal for Merit in the Fine Arts), the insignia of Chevalier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres (Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters) and the Creu de Sant Jordi (Cross of Sant Jordi). Since the ‘90s, he has published books on a wide range of design-related topics. About the manufacturer: BD has been around for over half a century. It was founded in a nightclub in 1972 by a bunch of young architects and designers from Barcelona. They broke into the design world with a new vision: to produce and market their designs, and the designs of their friends with complete creative freedom and design criteria. Beginning with the designs of contemporaries like Ettore Sottsass, Rennie Mackintosh and Álvaro Siza, BD provoked a curiosity about design. These early pieces helped bring international recognition to the country’s design scene, and many of them still exist today. They are an international design company run by a collective ownership —Apartamento Magazine (Nacho Alegre, Omar Sosa, Marco Velardi), Taller Bofill (Pablo Bofill, Ricardo Bofill, Luna Paiva...

A funny Bohemian hand knotted macramé suspension lamp with colorful circles accenting the bottom. Spain, 1960s-1970s. This handcrafted chandelier features a lampshade made of hand knotted macrame acrylic cord. The shade hangs from chain with round rattan links and it is finished with a brass canopy on the top. The length of the chain could be shortened to adjust it to the desired height. This hanging light would be a nice Bohemian addition placed over a kitchen's table or a dining area in a beach house, country house or urban apparment. Also lovely to add a funny accent placed as bedroom chandelier...

Charles Rennie Mackintosh 292 Hill House Chair by Cassina

By Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Cassina
