Set of 6 French Louis XVI Medallion Dining Chairs – 4 Side + 2 Armchairs

Located in Landivy, FR

A timeless French dining set inspired by the Louis XVI period, composed of four medallion side chairs and two matching armchairs. Each piece is entirely handcrafted in France from solid beechwood, hand-carved and hand-finished according to traditional cabinetmaking methods. The oval medallion back, fluted legs and sculpted details reflect the elegance of 18th-century Parisian style, reinterpreted with modern comfort and precision. Upholstered in a refined French fabric, each chair can also be covered with the client’s own material or with alternative fabrics proposed by Maison Gontier. Available in several wood tones — cherry, oak or custom finish — and in three patinas: Décorateur, “Demi-antiquaire” and “Brocante”. Custom lacquer colors are also offered; the Gontier color chart can be viewed among the images. Dimensions: Side chair – H 96 cm (37.8 in) × W 48 cm (18.9 in) × D 53 cm (20.9 in). Armchair – H 88 cm (34.6 in) × W 57 cm (22.4 in) × D 60 cm (23.6 in). Seat height 45 cm (17.7 in). All pieces are made to order and covered by Maison Gontier’s 3-year warranty, reflecting the quality and durability of true French craftsmanship. A subtle dialogue between classical heritage and contemporary artistry, these Louis XVI medallion chairs...

Charles Eames & Eero Saarinen “Organic Chair” Model No. A3501, 1950, USA
Charles Eames & Eero Saarinen “Organic Chair” Model No. A3501, 1950, USA

Charles Eames & Eero Saarinen “Organic Chair” Model No. A3501, 1950, USA

By Charles Eames, Eero Saarinen

Located in Biebergemund, Hessen

Very rare and collectible Eames & Saarinen "Organic Chair", winner of Organic Design competition at MoMa. First manufacture from the early 1950s, laminated and moulded wooden seat shell, foam upholstery which was covered with textile fabric designed by Marli Ehrman. A special patented joint holds the wood legs firmly to the shell. Originals of the organic from the 1950s are collector's items and exhibited in museums. They are also traded on art auctions, where one was sold in 1999 for $ 120.000 in bed condition. (take a look at the picture) Designed for the “Organic Design” competition by Museum of Modern Art in New York on 1 October 1940. The competition was initiated by Elliot Noyes, the first curator of this newly installed department. The goal was to motivate architects and companies to develop and market modern furniture for a modern lifestyle. Their participation in the MoMa competition was the first collaboration between Eero Saarinen and Charles Eames, and they won first prize. Besides the chair, their submission comprised a high-back chair, an armchair, a sofa, and office furniture, which they presented in the form of several drawings. No true-to-scale prototypes were produced for the competition. Production of the “Organic Chair” only started in 1950 and was terminated after a short while. The original design had envisaged aluminium legs. This idea was discarded because the material was scarce during the war, and wood was used instead. New technologies were also involved in the production of the seat shell, which was composed of strips of veneer and was to ensure utmost stability and comfort while using as little material as possible and being extremely lightweight. Later on, Eames based...

1950s Italian Wicker and Iron Armchair – Mid-Century Sculptural Design

Located in Split, Splitsko-dalmatinska županija

An arresting study of balance and tension, this sculptural chair defies the boundaries of conventional seating. With its woven rattan surface and sinuous iron frame, it evokes both organic fluidity and geometric precision, standing as an artifact of experimental postmodern design. Of Italian provenance and dating to the 1960s, the chair reflects postmodern and Brutalist influences. The interplay of handwoven rattan and blackened iron creates a striking contrast, each material imbued with an inherent honesty that deepens over time. The chair’s composition is a dialogue between weight and weightlessness, structure and softness. The finely woven rattan, marked by the passage of time, bears subtle tonal shifts and a patina that speaks to its authenticity. The iron frame—minimal yet expressive—outlines the form with architectural clarity, emphasizing negative space and sculptural intent. Aged imperfections, from the gentle fraying of the rattan to the darkening of the iron, enrich its character rather than diminish it. Time has bestowed a quiet grandeur upon this piece. Its softened edges, textured patina, and minor surface irregularities serve as testaments to its authenticity, each mark a remnant of its lived history. The structure remains sound, preserving the chair’s distinctive silhouette and presence. At once functional and artistic, this chair offers a commanding yet understated presence within interiors that embrace sculptural furniture, material honesty, and conceptual design. Ideal for settings that honor Brutalist minimalism...
