About the Artist Henrik Gamst Jespersen (1853–1936) was a distinguished Danish landscape painter born in Undløse, Denmark, and later active in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen. He has conducted workshops, taught master classes, and juried exhibitions in California, Nevada, New Mexico, Hawaii, New York, Washington, D.C., and Ontario, Canada. An active member of the Pastel Society of America, he taught a workshop for the society (1997) and performed demonstrations (2001, 2004, 2005) and assisted in hanging “Pastels Only” each year since 1998. In 2000, Wakeham was elected to the Pastel Society of America's Hall of Fame in 2000 and, in 2009, named Pastel Society of the West Coast Pastel Laureate. In 1995 he was named Master Pastelist, PSA and Distinguished Pastelist, Pastel Society of the West Coast.
