This is an exceptional, beautiful and extremely rare purse minaudiere created in Paris France by the luxury house of Cartier, back in the 1970. This incredible piece is from the trinity collection, specially crafted for the exclusive Cartier department "S" of "Select de Cartier". Made-up with very fine Mughal silk and eight trinity-motifs accents made in three tones of 18 karats gold.

Style: Mughal, Trinity, Art-Deco.
Measurements: 130 mm by 108 mm by 39 mm (5.10 x 4.25 x 1.5 Inches).
Length: The triple silk cord can be adjusted from 17 inches to 26 inches.
Hallmarks: Stamped with the maker's mark cartouche, French marks and signed as follows, "CARTIER PARIS MADE IN FRANCE".
Cartier S History
On the 19th of June, 1920, the House of Cartier in Paris created a collection of accessories so special they resembled jewels in their precious materials and expert craftsmanship. This collection was known as "Cartier S for Select", and it was the creation of the brilliant Mme. Jeanne Toussaint. It was her consummate style and taste that led to the design of so many Art Deco objects for which Cartier is famous. Even today, auction houses report record prices whenever a Toussaint creation appears. For two decades, Mme. Toussaint presided over "Department S". With the advent of World War II, the doors of "Department S" closed at least for thirty years. In the 1970 Cartier has recreated again the "Department S" and brought it to New York city. The same rigorous standards of beauty and workmanship, the same precious materials have gone into today's "Department S" Collection. A fabulous Gucci 5 piece Desk set in a Crocodile or Allifgator grain leather or real skin. It was gifted by Frank Sinatra to his close friend and neighbor Daniel Schwartz of Rancho Mirage, a neighboring town of Palm Springs.
It is marked on the inside DS Noel FS. It was purchased from the estate of Daniel and Natalie Schwartz. The desk pad has a new green paper blotter. The ink blotter has a new matching green paper. The set is in remarkably good condition. We have a similar set listed for sale on this site. This set dates from the 1970’s. It was featured in an ad in Architectural Digest from the period. The desk pad is approximately 19.25x15.25 inches. The leather is in good condition. There are numerous rough edge spots and minor marks throughout. The letter opener has some gold plate loss. Please see the detailed photos

Schwartz and Sinatra were neighbors at the Tamarisk Country Club, Rancho Mirage and golfed together, spent evenings at Melvyn’s Restaurant, Palm Springs, attended weekly dinner parties with family and friends, enjoyed trips to Las Vegas for games of Baccarat and Sinatra’s performances. Schwartz and his wife, Natalie, hosted Sinatra’s appointment as Honorary Mayor of Cathedral City, California in 1971.

ABOUT BOOKENDS
This exquisite pair of bookends, created by the renowned French sculptor Antoine Bourdelle, epitomizes the grace and emotional depth of the Belle Époque era. Each bookend is a remarkable sculpture in its own right, yet when placed together, they form an inseparable narrative composition, bound by a shared plot. One bookend captures the passionate embrace of Harlequin and his mistress, a tender yet intense moment frozen in time. The second bookend portrays Pierrot, lost in the anguish of jealousy, his expression and posture radiating sorrow and longing. Together, these two figurative sculptures create a dramatic scene, where the books they support become part of the stage set, acting as a barrier between the characters—much like a stage wall in a theatrical performance. The interplay of emotion and movement in this captivating sculptural pair makes it a true masterpiece, seamlessly blending art with functionality.
ABOUT SCULPTOR
Émile Antoine Bordelles (French, 1861 - 1929) was an influential and prolific French sculptor and teacher. He was a student of Auguste Rodin, a teacher of Giacometti and Henri Matisse, and an important figure in the Art Deco movement and the transition from the Beaux-Arts seyle to modern sculp[ture. His studio became the Musee Bourdelle, an art museum dedicated to his work, located at 18, rue Antoine Bourdelle, in the15th arondissement of Paris, France. His very well known for his use of quivering Romanesque forms in his depictions of mythological figures. One of his best known works Hercules the Archer (1909), was a commissioned sculpture for the financier Gabriel Thomas. Born Émile-Antoine Bourdelle on October 30, 1861 in Montauban, France, he learned woodworking as a youth from his father who was a cabinetmaker. While assisting his father during the workday, he studied drawing at the École des Beaux-Arts in Toulouse in the evening. Moving to Paris in 1885, the artist became an assistant to Auguste Rodin in 1893, Rodin’s influence is evident in many of Bourdelle’s early sculptures. By 1900, he had begun receiving commissions for a number of theaters and later taught classes at his studio to young artist such as Alberto Giacometti and Otto Gutfreund...
