Jackie Jones is an award-winning oil painter known for her evocative seascapes, coastal landscapes, and western vistas inspired by a lifetime of exploration and observation. Working both en plein air and in the studio, she is drawn to the power of the ocean, the grace of sailing vessels, and the enduring character of working waterfronts and wild places. Through careful observation and a strong sense of design, Jones seeks to capture the atmosphere, light, and spirit of the landscapes she paints. Jones holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting from Lyme Academy College of Fine Art and an Associate Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. Her work is rooted in the traditions of American representational painting and reflects the influence of artists such as Willard Metcalf, Winslow Homer, Frederick Judd Waugh, and the painters of Cape Ann, including Cecilia Beaux, Emile Gruppe, and Aldro Hibbard. A Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists, Jones is also an active member of American Women Artists, the California Art Club, Laguna Plein Air Painters Association, and the Salmagundi Club in New York City. Her paintings are represented by Bayview Gallery in Maine, The Gallery at Somes Sound on Mount Desert Island, Finer Line Gallery on Cape Cod, and Demers Jones Gallery in Rockport, Massachusetts, which she co-owns with her husband, marine artist Don Demers. Her work has been exhibited nationally and is included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States. A painting by Jones was acquired for the permanent collection of The Brinton Museum in Wyoming. In 2026, she was invited to participate in the prestigious Laguna Plein Air Invitational and her painting Moondrift was selected for Modern Marine Masters at Cavalier Gallery in New York City. In addition to her studio practice, Jones is a dedicated educator. She co-founded The Outdoor Studio with Demers, offering workshops throughout the United States and abroad. She also serves on the Board of Governors and Education Committee of the Rockport Art Association & Museum, where she has helped revitalize the historic Cape Ann Summer...
