A very fine and large Early 18th Century French Louis XV period corne verte (green horn) and ormolu mounted cartel or wall clock. The impressive cartel rests on its original socle - wall mounted base. Signed on the original white enamel dial with hand painted Roman numerals within a hand blown glass door with ormolu trim and decorated with ornate bronze. Impressively chiseled or ciselé work throughout. Original gilding throughout, exquisite patina. The wonderful gilt bronze case is signed by the highly respected maitre ebeniste and clockmaker, A. Gosselin from Paris. It is surrounded by flowers and foliage. Antoine Gosselin ‘A. Gosselin’ (Antoine Gosselin 1731-1794, Paris, master in 1752). Antoine Gosselin who worked actively under Louis XV until the Revolution and was established in rue du Faubourg-Saint-Antoine, in Paris. He hand crafted magnificent pieces that were at the time only reserved for the King. This three-piece set—composed of a clock and a pair of flanking candelabra—is a truly unique and delightful piece of decorative art. The clock is modelled in the image of an 18th century sedan chair – that is, a covered chair sat in by a member of the social elite, which was carried on poles by two people. This chair-shaped clock case is crafted from gilt bronze (ormolu) and decorated with festoons and a flower finial. At its centre, there is a circular white enamel dial, which features Arabic Numbers, colorful swag paintings, and the manufacturer’s name, 'Fd Gervais / Ft du Bronzes / A Paris'. Beautiful Amsterdam long case clock Wuba/Warmink - Period 1960. This clock has a well-functioning 8-day movement westminster percussion with quarter-hourly striking mechanism on gong rods. Beautiful brass dial with engraved bar. In the arch of the dial is the silver-plated working moon phase. The silver-plated dial has Roman numerals and is in good condition. Around the chapter ring, in the corners, you will see figures cast in bronze that depict the seasons. The cabinet is veneered in burl walnut and has a nice warm colour. The whole stands on a burl walnut veneered plateau which is also in good condition. Both sides of the hood are fitted with openwork windows, covered with fabric on the inside. On top of the hood of this clock are cast brass angels with trumpets on the left and right and in the middle is the figure Atlas...
