Max Eisler Eine Nachlese folio “Portrait of Baroness Bachofen-Echt” collotype
By (after) Gustav Klimt
Located in Chicago, IL
After Gustav Klimt, Max Eisler #22, Bildnis Baronin Bachofen-Echt; multi-color collotype after 1914-1916 painting in oil on canvas. GUSTAV KLIMT EINE NACHLESE (GUSTAV KLIMT AN AFTERMATH), a portfolio of 30 collotypes prints, 15 are multi-color and 15 are monochrome, on chine colle paper laid down on heavy cream-wove paper with deckled edges; Max Eisler, Editor-Publisher; Osterreichischer Staatsdruckerei (Austrian State Printing Office), Printer; in a limited edition of 500 numbered examples of which: 200 were printed in German, 150 were printed in French and 150 were printed in English; Vienna, 1931. 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of Gustav Klimt’s death. It is a fitting time to reflect upon the enduring legacy and deep impact of his art. Recognizing this need for posterity with uncanny foresight, the publication of Gustav Klimt: An Aftermath (Eine Nachlese) provides a rare collection of work after Klimt which has proven to be an indispensable tool for Klimt scholarship as well as a source for pure visual delight. Approximately 25 percent of the original works featured in the Aftermath portfolio have since been lost. Of those 30, six were destroyed by fire on 8 May 1945. On that fateful final day of WWII, the retreating Feldherrnhalle, a tank division of the German Army, set fire to the Schloss Immendorf which was a 16th century castle in Lower Austria used between 1942-1945 to store objects of art. All three of Klimt’s Faculty Paintings: Philosophy, Medicine and Jurisprudence (1900-1907), originally created for the University of Vienna, were on premises at that time. Also among the inventory of Klimt paintings in storage there was art which had been confiscated by the Nazis. One of the most significant confiscated collections was the Lederer collection which featured many works by Gustav Klimt such as Girlfriends II and Garden Path with Chickens...

Antique Rustic French Buffet c1700's Structurally Restored Cosmetically Original
Located in Chicago, IL
Antique Rustic French Buffet that was rebuilt structurally and left cosmetically original. Based on the construction techniques and saw marks we are reasonably confident that this Antique French Buffet dates from the mid-1700's. Generally we do not always take pictures of the outside back, however in this case the crude saw marks helps to confirm the age of the Antique French fruitwood Buffet. We debated about removing the old French Fabric...

19th Century Hand-Woven Kashmiri Paisley "Piano" Shawl
Located in Barrington, IL
A refined 19th-century hand-woven Paisley shawl from Northwest India, showcasing a sophisticated color palette of brick red, ivory, and black. Crafted in the Kashmir region, this historic textile represents the pinnacle of Indian weaving traditions and is often referred to as a "Piano Shawl" for its wide rectangular shape and decorative appeal when draped over furniture. The shawl features classic boteh (paisley) motifs that became emblematic of Kashmiri craftsmanship. These designs gained international popularity during the 1800s, particularly after Queen Victoria introduced them into royal fashion. This style inspired a wave of European imitations, notably in Paisley, Scotland—yet original Indian examples like this remain the most coveted by collectors. It’s a timeless heirloom piece, ideal for traditional, eclectic, or globally inspired interiors. Early 20th Century African American Crazy Quilt
Located in Barrington, IL
This extraordinary African American crazy quilt, hand-pieced and embroidered in the early 1900s, is a vivid expression of creativity, resilience, and cultural storytelling. Composed of 25 distinct blocks arranged in a 5x5 grid, each approximately 13 inches square, the quilt features an array of rich wool fabrics in hues of red, brown, gray, black, navy, and pale green—cut into dynamic rectangular and trapezoidal shapes. Every piece is meticulously hand-appliquéd and accented with elegant feather stitch embroidery, lending intricate detail and texture to the overall composition. A soft gray flannel border, 5 inches wide, frames the quilt, while the reverse is backed with warm gray cotton flannel, adding both comfort and contrast. More than just a textile, this quilt is a historical artifact—one that reflects the ingenuity and artistry of African American makers during a pivotal era in American history. Early African American quilts from the 19th and early 20th centuries have become highly sought after for their rarity, authenticity, and profound cultural significance. A striking addition to any collection, this quilt stands as both a visual masterpiece and a powerful testament to the legacy of African American folk art.
