A beautiful antique French neoclassical black slate stone and gold gilt bronze mantel clock by Japy Freres, circa 19th century, France. This is a tremendous quality French black slate and bronze gilt mantel clock in the neoclassical style. The design details include a raised figural relief at top and front sides, just below the three Corinthian columns; the columns, with beautiful detail have a touch of gold gilt, on front L and R sides. The clock, gilt bronze, is front and center, and is covered by a round crystal glass door on a hinge, has an eight day French movement which strikes at the hour and half hours on a bell.
