Imperial Russian Silver Fish Fabergé, Workmaster Julius Rappoport St. Petersburg, 1908 A rare Imperial Russian silver fish produced by the House of Fabergé and executed by the distinguished workmaster Julius Rappoport, one of the firm’s principal masters responsible for its celebrated silver animal studies. This sculptural figure is finely cast and chased, displaying strong modeling and precise surface articulation. The stylized yet expressive head and compact proportions are characteristic of Rappoport’s animal figures created during the height of Fabergé’s Imperial production. The eyes are set with natural rubies, intact and original. The underside bears a complete and clearly struck set of Imperial Russian hallmarks: • Double-headed eagle (Imperial warrant) • “α” — St. Petersburg Assay Office • Female head facing right — 1908 date mark • 88 silver standard • “Фаберже” in Cyrillic • “I.P.” — maker’s mark for Julius Rappoport The presence of full assay and maker’s marks firmly places the piece in St. Petersburg in 1908, during the mature Imperial period of the firm. Dimensions: Length: 45 mm Width: 27.3 mm Height: 26.5 mm Weight: 18.8 grams Condition: Very good antique condition with light surface wear consistent with age.
