Clausen was a very well respected British artist based in London in the late 19th & early 20th century, stylistically he managed to meld Romanticism and Impressionism with great success. This very handsome drawing depicts a study of two male heads, most likely related to the 1905 painting "Binding Sheaves" or another harvest painting from that period.
This work of art was exhibited & sold in 1976 by the "New Grafton Gallery 42 Old Bond Street London W1", exhibition to the verso, the gallery specialized in showing major 20th century British artists.
The drawing is in excellent condition and is ready to hang.

Born in Nashville Tennesee in 1937 Red Grooms is a; "Sculptor, painter, installation artist, filmmaker, and printmaker. An eager participant in late 1950s happenings, in the 1960s he developed high-spirited, mixed-media environmental sculpture on an enormous scale. In these “sculpto-pictoramas,” as he has called them, multiple, life-size, cartoonish figures inhabit sharply observed localities, usually areas of New York. Related to pop art, his zany work often carries a sarcastic edge but not at the expense of good-natured hilarity. It also plays on nostalgia that stems from the artist's evident affection for his acutely rendered subjects, as befits an admirer of Edward Hopper's paintings. Charles Roger Grooms left Peabody College there to enroll in the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for a year. He then decamped for New York to continue his studies at the New School for Social Research (now New School). He also attended Hans Hofmann's summer school in Provincetown. Pisapia's "Expedition Series," inspired by sea voyages, is about meeting life’s challenges with courage and purpose. It connects to the idea expressed by J.W. Goethe: “Character is formed in the stormy billows of the world.” Taking up life’s tasks can require one to go against the wind. The feeling of determination to achieve and continue steering through obstacles is poured into the pure forms; a dynamic balancing of the straight and curve on different axes. "With a rounded starting point," Pisapia explains, "I add on a variety of disparate angles, diverse curves, and twisting planes. I carve and smooth the surfaces, bringing out particular tensions and transitions."
Flavius Valone Pisapia is an Italian-Romanian artist born in Bucharest in 1981. He completed his higher education in the UK, with an MA in Transpersonal Arts & Therapy, 2014; a Diploma in Transformative Arts, 2011; and a BA (Hons) in Film and Video, 2005. Pisapia studied sculpture throughout his higher education and appreciated several sculptor mentors in the UK. Since 2016, he has resided in India, where he is currently an artist in residence at Studio Sukriti in Jaipur. He has had several solo exhibitions in India and his artwork is found in private collections worldwide.

Through an immersive process the essence, beauty and the pure form of an idea are gradually revealed to me. The emerging awareness flows into my artwork imbuing it with a higher reality. Gary’s rich abstract paintings are most often inspired by the texture of an aged floor or the surface of an old wall. “I've worked in the Quality Department of a few manufacturing plants,” says Gary, “And the floors of these places have wonderful patinas and compositions from layers of paint and tape that have been scratched or worn down over many years.” Although Gary’s artworks are non-representational, every composition has a story or theme that develops during his creative process. Each splash and scrape of paint is representative of a reflective investigation of Gary’s artistic self.
