In this new Ocean series, Van Zeijl breaks with materials related to her homeland and sets her eyes on a global topic, the pollution of our oceans. The urge for information drew her to The Bahamas where she witnessed bountiful plastic and discarded fishing nets found on many beaches. Several of the photographs in this collection were taken on-site, but Van Zeijl also utilized her typical portrait process in the studio.
