Amy Robson

Amy Robson is a British/American artist who creates drawings, paintings and animations that consider the experience of being in a place – physical or psychological. Her work pushes representational boundaries with disjointed pictorial spaces and uncanny juxtapositions to emphasize contemporary dislocation and collective anxiety. Weird and wonky depictions of nature or interiors inhabited by ghostlike figures suggest the uncertainty and strangeness of being alive in the modern world. Born in America (Pittsburgh, PA), Amy Robson has lived in the UK for 25 years. She trained at the Royal Drawing School and holds an MFA from Chelsea College (UAL), London. Her work has been shown in group and solo exhibitions in the UK and America. She has been selected for residencies with PADA Studios in Portugal and with Jentel Artists Residency Program in Wyoming. Her writing has been published in Turps Banana magazine and she is currently coordinating and curating an exhibition of long-term American expats in the UK.
