Barcelona Estate

Family Home by CARLOS DAVID in Barcelona, ES

Located in the heart of Barcelona, this estate designed by CARLOS DAVID has been home to our client’s family for generations. Sitting at the foothills of the exclusive Sarrià neighborhood, the property shares a garden wall with another iconic villa, once a home to our client’s great great-aunt, now the U.S. Consulate General Barcelona.

This project is most close to our hearts as it presented an opportunity to work once again with lifelong clients and dear friends, consisting of an exquisitely curated Main House and an enchanting new addition – a ground-up tree house / glass pavilion quietly nestled in the garden.

Over the years, the rooms of this historic house have evolved through various iterations and distributions as different generations of the family lived here. The current layout was designed as an intimate home for two avid art collectors whose thoughtful collection highlights Spanish and Catalan artists. Our intention was to create serene and neutral spaces that provide layers of comfort whilst not distracting from the art or the intricate stone & lacquer detailing of the interior architecture. We strove to achieve this concept through the use of silk and cashmere fabrics, mixed with antiques spanning from the 18th Century through the mid-20th Century, peacefully ensconced among prominent works by Joan Miró, Antoni Tàpies, Josep Guinovart and Xavier Valls displayed throughout the house.
