Country House by Thornley-Hall and Young Studio in Bayfield, CA

Nestled on the shores of Lake Huron, Ontario, Canada, this 1930’s country estate underwent a transformative revival by Thornley-Hall and Young Studio. With a commitment to preserving its original charm, the design aimed at creating a sophisticated yet welcoming country house, that included a practical home office and plenty of guest rooms for visiting friends.

The client is a fan of Kate Thornley-Hall’s custom rugs, and a KTH rug was commissioned for every room with a skillful layering of patterns and textures which creates a warm and inviting atmosphere. Antiques blend with more modern furniture and colorful artworks to produce an aesthetic that is true to the original house while also being fresh and modern.

This restoration was a true partnership, a labor of love and provenance, reflecting a fusion of the old and new world to create a remarkable home for any season.

The result is an elegant and modern country home that perfectly aligns with the client’s lifestyle and is a testament to the house’s rich history and vibrant present.
