Bayou DeSiard

Family Home by Lee Ledbetter and Associates in Monroe, LA

Taking its inspiration from raised plantation cottages, this house incorporates a wide center hall and an exterior rear gallery within an asymmetrical composition relating to the site configuration and multiple views. The site is a promontory where two bayous intersect and has more than half its perimeter on water. From one angel, the house faces a golf course across the bayou; in the other direction, towards the uninterrupted vista two miles up the water. The interiors combine comfortable custom designed upholstered furniture with antiques. The walls and rugs are mostly beiges and blues with the exception of the playroom’s more lively primary colors appropriate for young children.
