Beverly Hills

Family Home by David Desmond, Inc. in Beverly Hills, CA

The Screen Deco Style – imbued with the fantasy, glamour and sophisticated modernity of an MGM musical from Hollywood’s Golden Era – inspired the design of this 1938 house by noted architect Herbert G. Reisenberg. The longtime residence of screen actress Ann Rutherford, the house recently underwent an extensive restoration and expansion sensitive to its elegant scale. The interiors combine the bold geometric forms of Cubism and the Vienna Secession, the refined whimsy of Christian Bérard, craftsmanship in the ébéniste tradition of 18th-century France, and (to quote Diane Vreeland) “That little something extra. Pizazz.”
