Colorful Seattle Tudor

Family Home by The Residency Bureau in Seattle, WA

For this 1915 Tudor home located in Seattle’s University District, two of its most beautiful original details – the millwork and the stained glass – were begging for center stage. When I realized the millwork could become the (painted) muse to highlight the colors from the original stained glass, the entire design approach was determined.

I flipped the script for how to work with clients who hesitate with color. The most common Rx is to keep everything neutral and deploy colors with the accents like pillows or throws. Here we harkened from the lessons learned with the stained glass – bringing color to the bones of the home, not the accessories. The millwork. The walls. And even the doors.
