Eldorado

Vacation Home by Emily Summers Design in Indian Wells, CA

The home, originally built in 1969, had a series of unfortunate remodeling efforts in the mid 1980’s, the client’s objective was to restore the mid-century home to its original architectural design. The mid 80’s additions had repositioned the entrance to the home through a private courtyard and added a laundry room in the original entrance. The solution was to simply strip back the home to its essence, modernize the kitchen and baths and optimize unfulfilled opportunities from the original 1969 design. The client’s added a new Bulthaup kitchen that tied to the original kitchen and removed awkward roofline connections made during the eighties. There were many structural adjustments made to the foundation and new terrazzo floors added that brought the home up to current earthquake standards.
