HU HOTEL

Hotel by Home Studios in Memphis, TN

At the center of vibrant downtown Memphis, Hu is inspired by the free-spirited iconic Americana of the city itself and the building's rich architectural history as the Tennessee Trust Bank Building. Rooted in the past but looking towards the future, the design of Hu is equally suited for early morning coffee meetings as it is for boisterous game-day brunches, cocktails with live music, intimate dinners for two, or hazy nightcaps with the bartender. Home Studios has created an eclectic, energetic and inviting environment throughout the Hu Hotel, with each area functioning as its own unique and immersive experience. The comfortable, warm hotel lobby welcomes both hotel guests and city residents alike to relax and have a cup of coffee or an afternoon snack. The space is adorned with varied natural wood tones and textures, playful geometries, custom leather and woven seating, large maple library tables, marble accents, and custom lighting throughout. The restaurant at the Hu is designed as a diner from the Memphis golden era of Sun and Stax Records both elevated and reinvented: copper and zinc make the space shine, while tile wall details, wood floors, and oversized leather and maple banquettes soften the space. On the rooftop, the design draws inspiration from and celebrates the Hu's extraordinary, one-of-a-kind city views. The design of the hotel's guest rooms is light, airy and elegant, taking inspiration from the structure and materiality of men's suiting contrasted with soft, feminine floral peach tones and copper accents.
